CD REVIEW: DECAPITATE HATRED (Tangerang) - "Birth of Abomination", by Andrew Sick, 25/12/2016

DECAPITATE HATRED (Tangerang) - Birth of Abomination (Force Fed / Stillborn Sounds)

Since 2010 at Tangerang in Indonesia, a horde of bloodthirsty f***ing beasts has been let loose in nature to ravage the villages, and baptized as "Decapitate Hatred", this monstrosity is perpetrating a merciless f***ing carnage with nameless f***ing brutality by sharing an insane f***ing work that will mark the "Birth of Abomination"! Decapitate Hatred is sharing a sick Groovy Brutal Death F***ing Metal including a few slam parts through this brutal f***ing killing and can be compared with old skull brutality by giving us much feelings from the damn past! This "Birth of Abomination" is divided in 12 butchering f***ing parts including an excellent instrumental intro putting us in the shitty mood of this unbelievable f***ing piece of insanity because the 12 scenes of slaughtering are just f***ing catchy maybe having some rare a little less good but in general the songwriting is a total f***ing success from start to f***ing end making us easily addicted as f***! The production of this debut massacre is f***ing great, of course not perfect but the mixing is well done and this f***ing shit sounds really like a true bloody f***ing bomb destroying everything in its f***ing path with its contagious sickness! Decapitate Hatred is Ferlando Sutanto (Vocals), Pidekso Gentur Satriaji (Guitars), Angga Endar (Drums) and the killer f***ing trio is doing a brilliant f***ing job at all shitty levels, without being perfect but delivering a successful composition knowing to make a true addictive brutal death f***ing release! Ferlando on vocals is f***ing insane by delivering a brutal f***ing guttural perhaps a little bit redundant after a while but still f***ing well performed; Pidekso on guitars is just f***ing genius with a songwriting almost f***ing perfect having as only flaws to include some repetitive and less successful parts but in general delivering a majestic brutal f***ing job; and finally Angga on drums doing also an amazing job and knowing very well how to deal with groovy and blasting f***ing parts! "Birth of Abomination" is 31 minutes of pure f***ing awesomeness perhaps being not totally perfect but creating some brutal death metal being not weak by sharing a few groovy parts showing a lot of bands how to do their job due to the big influence from true old skull brutal death and also, of course, their addictive composition is completely f***ing brilliant! Decapitate Hatred just offered a near perfect debut f***ing album having everything to please by its catchiness and brutality which are the main f***ing aspects of its f***ing success and "Birth of Abomination" is without any f***ing doubt a mandatory f***ing shit for all sickheads worldwide! Brilliant Insane F***ing Groovy Shitty Piece of Pure F***ing Brutality! 9.5/10. NEW INTERVIEW: Our first interview with SYMMETRIC ORGAN (Dortmund, Germany Death Metal), 2/6/2015

Band line-up (2015): Andreas (drums), Karsten (guitar), Philip (bass/ vox), and Ivar (lead guitar).

The band released the ten-track studio album States of Decay independently on 10 October 2016.

Kieran James (Busuk Chronicles)1: Hi, can you tell me the early history from the formation of the band up to now?
Philip: Three-quarters of us play together since 2003. Back then Andreas (drums), Karsten (guitar) and me, Philip (bass/ vox) played together in a band called Exposed Guts. We did kind of US-styled Death Metal and had one self-release called “The Way of All Flesh”. We had a lot of gigs and did support slots for bands like Monstrosity, Deicide, Prostitute Disfigurement, God Dethroned and others. The band was put on hold in the late-2000s and we started jamming on new material. Finding the right lead-guitarist took way longer than we wanted. But finally we found Ivar in 2013/14. He’s also playing in a Death Metal band called Immortal Scorn. We immediately recorded a 4-Track rehearsal demo called “World Keeps Falling”. It’s just a rough piece of Music(k) on CD-R that we use to have a free give-away at shows. By the way we continue working on new material to get our first full-length album together. Recordings are in progress. And to have some kind of appetizer and introduction to the Death Metal Web Community we did our video-single called “Palace Revolution”. A new song called “Truth Be Told” will be online within the next few weeks hopefully. The album will contain 10 to 12 songs. As I said: work is in progress.

KJ2: How is the response of people to your demo?
ANSWER: We did not really promote “World Keeps Falling” besides giving it to the people we met at shows so far. But the reactions were very good. And the video-single still does pretty well. We really caught some interest out there which is really great!

KJ3: What is the most influential band for you guys in playing music?
ANSWER: If you asked this question to each one of us separately you’d get a bunch of different answers and each one of us would not just mention one band for there is so much great stuff out there hahaha. But bands like Gorefest, Vader, Dying Fetus, Terrorizer, Pestilence and Monstrosity for example surely left a mark.

KJ4: What are your future plans for the band?
ANSWER: With the upcoming album we are working on our future right now, hahaha. Well we definitely need to play shows and we are working on that as well. Playing Death Metal is a hell of a pleasure and we want to as long as possible. ... Anything else time will bring.

KJ5: Are the songs you create using English or German lyrics?
ANSWER: Anything we did so far was in English. There are a few really nice bands doing it in German like Godhatecode or Japanese Kampfhörspiele. I can imagine having a song in German some day. But we didn’t try that so far.

KJ6: What are the lyrical themes?
ANSWER: When it comes to lyrics we have two sides of a coin somehow. On the one hand, the lyrics deal with reality and the society of today...freedom versus the different kinds of oppression one can find almost everywhere. “Palace Revolution” is a good example: The lyrics are inspired by the activist group Femen. Two girls from a Russian punk band were sent to a Siberian prison in 2013 for provocation and vandalism against the Russian authority. In fact they were sentenced for being critical and free-thinking. They kept up to their ideals and did not stop to speak out their criticism.

“Basics in Brutality” for example is an anti-war song about childhood-soldiers. By the way we use “Death-Metal-Language” on topics like that.

On the other hand, we also stand in line with the lyrical traditions of Death Metal in general. “Scumrise” for example deals with the classic horror of dead people walking around.

KJ7: Why do you like to play old-school death-metal / grind instead of deathcore or other modern styles?
ANSWER: Playing the style we do was (and is) no decision against deathcore or any other modern style of brutal music. We try to create the most intense music we can and death metal is a passion we share. Calling the sound a mixture of Brutal Death, Old School Death and Grindcore came up after the first songs were ready and we listened to them. And these styles also are important to all of us as fans and listeners as well.

KJ8: When did you first become fans of metal bands?
ANSWER: All of us got in touch with metal when we were kids. I for example started being 13 years old. My very first bands were AC/DC and W.A.S.P. But it didn’t take long until I found Kreator, Nuclear Assault, S.O.D., Morbid Angel and stuff like that.

KJ9: Have you heard any Indonesian death metal or grindcore bands? I can recommend Jasad, Jihad, Bleeding Corpse, Turbidity, and Death Vomit among others for DM and Deadly Weapon and G.A.S for grindcore.
ANSWER: I must admit that I do not really know too much about the Indonesian scene. But thanks for the crash course. I really enjoy your recommendations. Great taste!!! All I knew until now was that there are a lot of really brutal bands coming from Indonesia. I heard Jasad, “Rebirth of Jatisunda” before, for example. But it’s not easy to get your music here in Germany besides a few clips via youtube and stuff like that...You caught my attention to dig a little more.

KJ10: There was a Christian death-metal band in Germany called Sacrificium a while back. I thought they were pretty good. Have you heard of them and do you know whether they are still active?
ANSWER: Yep, they are still alive and playing. In 2013/2014 they came up with an album called “Prey for Your Gods”. See http://facebook.com/SacrificiumOfficial

KJ11: What is the metal scene like in your town or city and what are the best bands from there (any genre)?
ANSWER: The scene is healthy and growing. But our city itself is not too famous for Death Metal. If you ask for local bands I can recommend it’s Orphalis – http://facebook.com/orphalisband We are gonna share the stage with those guys in the very near future. And if you look into the more or less close neighbourhood it’s Phobiatic for Death Metal and Keitzer as well as Depression for Grindcore.

KJ12: What are your most memorable shows or experiences on stage?
ANSWER: The most memorable show on a death metal stage was back with Exposed Guts here in Dortmund. We played with God Dethroned. And during our set all lights went out. But we just got on and the crowd got really mad in a very positive way that evening. With Symmetric Organ we once in a while have after-show parties that are truly memorable hahaha.

KJ13: Have you got any message for the fans?
ANSWER: Keep it up! Stay true to your ideals, stay brutal and thanks for the support.

KJ14: OK, thank-you very much.
ANSWER: Thanks to you! It was a pleasure!
The 10-track debut album States of Decay was released independently on 10 October 2016.

NEW CREMATOPSY (BDG.) INTERVIEW: "Wait for our music, we will shock you!" (English version), 19/7/16

My second interview with CREMATOPSY (Bandung Death Metal)
Interpretation by: Popo Demons Damn (vocalist, DEMONS DAMN band)
Date: Tuesday, 19 July 2016 @ Bandung
CREMATOPSY (July 2016) is: Dado (vocals); Insan (guitar1); Haikal (guitar2); Alwin (bass – could not attend band interview); and Aden (drums).

Kieran James (Busuk Chronicles): Please tell us the band history.

Aden (drummer): We started in 2008. At first we were high-school juniors. We started to attend many gigs such as Bandung Death Fest, Bandung Berisik, and then we asked ourselves why we don’t make a band. The name was given by Miky Auticed. At first the guitarist was Ari and the vocalist was Adhi (now with Auticed). In 2015 Haikal and Dado joined the band because Ari must finish his study and Adhi decided to join Auticed.

Insan (guitarist1): Transfer!

KJ: You pushed Adhi to leave?

Haikal (new guitarist2): Yes, because the vocal is very vital.

Aden: I don’t want two bands to have the same character especially on vocals. We made Adhi choose and unfortunately he chose Auticed.

Haikal: It had a good future maybe.

KJ: Who is the leader of Crematopsy?

Aden: Insan is the leader of the band.

Dado (new vocalist): Because he made it.

Aden: And he made all the songs, 80%.

Popo Demons Damn: There is a difference between vocalist and other players.

KJ: Where do you come from?

Aden: All from Bandung. Insan, Haikal, and Dado are from Kopo [South Bandung]; Aden and Insan are from Buahbatu [south-east Bandung].

KJ: Did you release any recordings?

Aden: We had an EP in 2013 called Admonition. We were released by Omega Records, the same as Auticed.

KJ: What is the progress now?

Aden: We plan to record our new songs maybe in October 2016 (as single). We have a bigger plan to release a full-length album in 2017.

KJ: What is the genre for the band?

Aden: Personally I like to call us Death Metal. The sub-genre is up to the listener.

KJ: Is it different from Auticed?

Aden: Auticed is more classical like Fleshgod Apocalypse but Crematopsy is more towards Gorod and the Faceless.

KJ: Is it hard to manage the two bands?

Aden: I don’t think so because Auticed does not have a lot of schedule so we can discuss the timing of the shows. We are still in transition between the old and the new formations. One problem is we still need to wait to get the chemistry between the band members. There is new influence coming from the new band members.

KJ: What band did Dado play in before?

Aden: In Argiolpes with all of the same members [all laugh]. The only difference is Alwin the bassist.

KJ: So some of you are in three bands?

Aden: Yes, but Argiolpes has…

Dado: Disappeared…

Aden: Lost…

Insan: Nowhere.

KJ: Not active?

Aden: No, not active anymore. In Argioples we play Swedish metalcore such as Soilwork.

KJ: Will the band start again?

Aden: No, not anymore.

Insan: We just focus on Crematopsy and Auticed.

Popo: When did you release the EP?

Aden: 2013 by Crematopsy. [KJ Note: The Crematopsy Metal-archives page says 2014.]

KJ: What is the future plan for Crematopsy?

Aden: Full-length album for 2017. We have a plan to change our genre. It will stay not far from DM. We don’t want any similar material to Auticed.

KJ: Do you know the record label for the single?

Aden: Yes, still Omega.

KJ: How is the vocal style different?

Aden: Adhi had a growl style on vocal while Dado is more high-tuned. This is one reason why we had a plan to change our genre.

KJ: So Dado’s vocals are like screamo?

Aden: Yes.

Dado: Learning to growl. My influence is Corey from Slipknot and Randy Blythe from Lamb of God.

KJ: So the music will become like metalcore or modern-metal?

Aden: It is more towards melodic death-metal.

KJ: Will Crematopsy become like the style of your old band?

Aden: No, because we do not want the DM to disappear. The vocalist is now learning to growl.

KJ: Or you could have two vocalists?

Aden: It is complex to spread our fee!

Insan: It is all about money.

Aden: Money talks, bro!

KJ: Is it good to work with the new vocalist?

Aden: So far so good. He has strong will to learn and the most important thing is I have known him a long time and I like his attitude.

KJ: Did he play any shows yet with Crematopsy?

Insan: Not yet.

Aden: We did not yet test his live performance.

KJ: Who are your favourite singers in Bandung DM?

Dado: Addy Gembel. The most influence in metal is Viky Burgerkill, Owang Nectura, and also Ivan Scumbag.

KJ: Any other vocalists from other cities in Indonesia?

Dado: Daniel Dead Squad and Adam from Humiliation, no, just kidding…

Aden: Because he is a friend of Adam.

Dado: My friend from junior high-school.

KJ: Humiliation is also from Soreang.

Aden: Yes, Adam and Insan used to hang out. But since Humiliation got busier Insan can’t spend so much time with Adam.

Aden: Because Crematopsy is a part of Bandung Selatan [South Bandung] Death Metal Community.

KJ: Have you got any tour or shows coming up?

Insan: Not yet because we want to record our single first.

Aden: We feel Crematopsy needs to have more songs. So far we have four songs.

KJ: So the four songs are from the EP?

Haikal: Yes, but now we try to make a differentiation from the old songs.

KJ: When will the new song be finished?

Aden: We can finish it in October 2016.

KJ: Do you know the name of the song?

Aden: The name is not ready yet. We are still working on the lyrics and the title. The music is around 20% finished. The reason is Insan and I got busy last month [June 2016] with Auticed and Haikal and Dado are busy with their study. This is why we have slow process in making music.

KJ: Any message for the fans?

Aden (drums): The same as I said to Auticed fans: thanks for your support and your patience to wait for our music. Buy original CD and merch and please support our local UG music. We really, really love you.

Insan (guitarist1): I want to tell you not to tire out waiting for our music. Just keep waiting…

Aden (drums): Just believe!

Insan (guitarist1): We will show something different and something fresh.

Haikal (guitarist2): Please still wait for our music. We will shock you.

Dado (vocalist): I will promise we will make a different colour for DM in UG and don’t stop to be creative.

KJ: Do you prefer religious girls or metal chicks?

Aden: I prefer metal chick with a good religion.

Popo: A good-girl metal-chick.

Aden: Don’t forget to pray.

KJ: What do you study?

Aden: Business management.

Dado: Communications.

Haikal: General management.

Insan: Music and art performance.
The four-track Admonition EP was released on 27 June 2014 by OmegaWave Records and was limited to 50 copies [source: Crematopsy Metal-archives page].
